The steady quality of Vimeo’s offerings is a breath of fresh air after wading through YouTube’s sea of hit or miss content, though you are unlikely to find the latest viral videos on Vimeo. Short, Vimeo is like a private art gallery compared with YouTube’s public convention like experience. There is nothing to avoid you from uploading the same content on YouTube and Vimeo, you will be more successful if you respect the difference in audiences.

From a technical standpoint, YouTube and Vimeo recommend similar encoding and compression standards. For the best quality uploads, you should read over the guides carefully.  There are many upsides to Vimeo’s smaller audience, your video will have fewer competitors. The Vimeo Plus plan costs $12 per month only $7 per month if you choose annually option, Plus lets you upload 5GB worth of content per week and 250GB per year. Improves on the basic account by adding priority video conversion, privacy features, custom stats, priority support, customizations, and social tools.

Vimeo’s $20 a month Pro plan lets you upload 20GB per week content and up to 1TB of content yearly. Vimeo Pro expands on the Plus plan, with more statistics, privacy, support, and customizations. Along with that, you get extra video tools like time code notes, secure sharing, version history, and lets you work in partnership with up to three other people.

The Vimeo Business plan costs $50 a month, does not require any weekly upload limits, grants you, and your team 5TB of storage. This plan upgrades to priority supports allows Google Analytics integration and can support up to 10 team members.

The top plan is the Vimeo Premium that costs $75 monthly, this plan offers all the functionality of the Business plan and adds unlimited live streaming in 1080p and ups the archive storage limit to 7TB.

You will need the Pro, Business, or Premium plan if you are going to charge for videos on Vimeo On Demand.  Once you signup for the right plan, you only need to upload your video with a trailer, determine if you want the video to be available for purchase or rent, and then decide your price. After taxes and fees, you can make about 90 percent of the total revenue from the video.

YouTube comparison is free and only limits the number of videos you can upload to 100 videos daily or 50 daily videos if you already have over 2,000 videos uploaded. To keep your sanity, do not challenge yourself to hit these limits, no one person or company is that compelling. The Vimeo Web Interface

The web interface is functional but seems disorganized. It has long menu lists in some places, with redundant options that appear elsewhere on your screen. There is lot of whitespace, unpredictable color highlight, without a real focal point on most screens that make it difficult to focus. Vimeo dashboard looks unexciting overall, especially considering that it is a platform aimed at inventiveness.

The top header bar, Vimeo shows menu options for manage videos, watch videos, on-demand and upgraded options. The profile menu on the right side lets you quickly navigate to your uploads and messages. Account settings section provides a ton of control and the page itself is sprawling. Vimeo needs to work on organizing and improving this section.

You can click the manage videos menu option to be taken to your dashboard. There is where you can upload your videos or sort through any of your previous uploads by title, privacy status, or by date added. The left rail is divided into separate sections for all your videos, workspace, and showcase albums. The bottom shows your weekly and total storage limits in your account.

Vimeo’s albums are embeddable collections of your videos that you can share with other people. Can use the albums to present a group related videos to your fans or clients. To start with albums, hit the plus button next to the album’s menu item. Each album, you can add a description, name, and pick the privacy level and set public or password protected. Customization tab will allow you to alter the layout of the album, however, free users are limited to the default design and paid members to have visual frameworks, dark mode options, along with adding a custom logo.

Once you complete the basic setup, you will need to add your video content. The easy way to add videos is by dragging them into an album through your Vimeo dashboard. You can even reorder the videos by dragging the videos into the desired order you like. Vimeo made it easy to share and embed your video albums across the web with dedicated buttons. The album pages look elegant and more visually take on playlists than YouTube’s comparable feature.

With Vimeo, it is easy to upload videos. Can select a file from your desktop or connect it to cloud services like Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox. Vimeo made it clear that you should only upload videos that you own and are allowed per Vimeo’s guidelines.
